Yorky was the 18th episode of first season of Gunsmoke, also the 18th overall episode of the series. Directed by series creator Charles Marquis Warren, the episode, which was developed for TV as a screenplay by Sam Peckinpah from an original story written by John Meston, was originally aired on CBS-TV on February 18, 1956.

Synopsis[]
Matt saves the life of a white boy raised by Indians who was shot trying to retrieve horses stolen from his tribe.
Storyline[]
A young white boy, taken hostage years earlier by the Pawnee, must steal from or kill a white in order to be accepted by the tribe as a brave.
